COOLEY RESIDENCE Wagon wheels adorned every railing No corner was left without attention to detail. Even the garage door appeared to open barn style Wheels were even found soaring on high. This residence was built on the steep canyon wall of the Forest Highlands golf course. The lower deck serviced a formal Dining Room with a back wall that opened into a real wine cellar carved out of the canyon wall. The owner loved to look over his nemesis, Hole 9. Wagon wheels were purchased and placed throughout the design as the residents were collectors of western art. A broad entrance allowed for a comfortable welcoming of guests. A miniature of the main fountain in Old Town Scottsdale All lighting was to capture the feel of oil lamps or candles. No overpowering white light was allowed. Covered areas allowed for enjoyment of Flagstaff’s wonderful thunderstorms. This arch, an extension of the 2-story fireplace supported the BBQ area for the deck above. All stone was native to Northern Arizona. Pathways invited people to explore the woodlands beyond. A warm, stone fireplace. Walls were set aside for an exhisiting art collection. The Kitchen was intentionally made open to the Living Room for continuity of entertainment. Patios were ample in size tocreate a flat area to enjoy the view over the canyon beyond.
